Hello NEW STUDENTS !
NEW STUDENTS 2018
We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday for your first lessons - see you then in A1.1
NEW STUDENTS: Equipment list : Please do not rush out & buy lots of equipment. More info will be given in the first lesson about this.
Sketchbooks will need to be purchased from the college (please don't buy one from an art shop as we will guide you to the right paper you need).
You may wish to buy an SD card later on in the term :

This summer we have partnered with Greater Manchester Higher to offer scholarship places for our courses in Manchester.
Greater Manchester Higher is a network of universities and colleges from across Greater Manchester, who are working together to provide activities for local schools and colleges. Greater Manchester Higher aims to improve the delivery of information, advice and guidance about higher education routes and the range of options available. Greater Manchester Higher are able to fund a number of scholarship places for young people who are in year groups 9 – 13 and live in the following areas: Abram, Alexandra, Baguley, Barton, Benchill, Beswick and Clayton, Blackley, Bradford, Breightmet, Brinnington, Bucklow, Cadishead, Charlestown, Denton South East, Edgeley, Farnworth, Gorton North, Gorton South, Gamesley, Harper Green, Harpurhey, Heywood West, Hyde Godley, Hyde Newton, Ince, Irlam, Kersal, Little Hulton, Middleton Central, Middleton West, Newtown, Norley, North Reddish, Ordsall, Radcliffe Central, Sharston, St. James, St. Marys, Swinton North, Tonge, Walkden North, Winton, Woodhouse Park, & Worsley Mesnes.

Heads up...
Loads of degree shows kick off this weekend so keep an eye out for their dates & times ;
Remember that there is a COMPLUSORY viist to MMU show on June 20th & a visit to Huddersfield on June 14th (sign up sheet in A1.1 - a few places left..)
To have a look at Leeds Art show 2017 , follow the link here - they have just been voted NO 1 Design Uni in the UK so worth checking out.
Other Unis in the Northwest such as Salford, Bolton, UCLAN will have degree shows starting very soon so check your diaries & get out there !

Snow day number 2 !
Mother nature dictates that we stay in doors today so please make sure that you use the time to ;
AS - Work on design ideas / compositions / illustrations for your main idea. Also explore a page of typography. If you have Photoshop you can explore design ideas also.
A2; make sure your first artist is analysed in depth- use the annotation section on the blog to help higher order thinking .if possible try some practical responses .
A2 Textiles: artists research please - full context and formal elements - use the blog to remind you of what to write.
ALL STUDENTS; the snow is a great opportunity to take primary source photos if it links to your theme- get your big coat on and start clicking !

It's a snow day!
Dear all, college is closed due to the snow - please use this opportunity to make a snowman , sledge and enjoy the fluffy white stuff outside. When you've done that, please make sure all sketchbooks are worked on (annotation, design ideas , artists research, Photoshop if you have it) and to do all those jobs in the sketchbook that you've been meaning to do ! (I'm writing reports today..) .
