Christmas Holiday Info :
Well done , you made it ! Have a well deserved break & rest BUT please make sure that
  • your sketchbook is fully annotated , up to date & has all the supporting evidence for the final piece ..remember that the exam board say "careful consideration should be given to the penultimate stage so that final pieces do not suddenly appear"
  • Check that your brown technical book is developing with tech pages for photo shoots, contact strips, tutorials, etc
  • Keep an eye out for any photobooks on offer so that you can use these for your conclusion in Jan .

Week beginning Dec 18th 2017 :

Please update your learner statement (section 2 ) & write section 3. Section 4 will be done in Jan.

PLEASE MAKE SURE that you document this penultimate stage carefully as you progress - it is vital to marks .
KEY THINGS TO REMEMBER ARE:
JOIN THE DOTS FROM YOUR RESEARCH TO YOUR FINAL PIECES...
Primary sources  - contact strip & edit them. Show the contact strips / studio layout in your technical book & the edits in the A3 book.
Annotate ideas & show changes you make - even if you think they are obvious .
Don' t be afraid to make changes !

A2 B Group : Friday P6&7

Please continue with the tasks below :

Jade C : draw / photograph greater selection of flowers / leaves to translate to typography. Think about scale & words.

Jade B : Decide on & sketch out the format of the book pages / premise of the idea- what main characters will there be & what do they need to visually communicate .

Josh: Begin to work on the portraits - think about where primary source will come into this ?

Kat: begin to edit the photos of Emma - look back at the research you did on the artists & tie this in. Try different experiments with the photos - don't be too rigid .

Lewis: draw out tshirt templates (photoshop or by hand) to show the icons that will appear - these should be drawn by you also - rather than getting from internet. Begin to think / sketch out a dummy booklet to think about how many pages you will have .

Humaira: start to decide & draw out composition layouts in the "letterbox" format of the web header - keep looking at the images you have & work out where these need to be developed. Think about primary sources , colors & typography for each one.

Jodie - If possible take more photos in the studio & then edit these accordingly - add some research in book on Altar triptychs - maybe use the existing pieces you've done to mock up a quick version.

Joe : Composition layouts for the ideas so far ? Look at what format the ideas will take - ie animation / posters ...What imagery will you use to communicate the idea . start practical experiments where possible to get going.

Tessa: thinking about the idea of migration ....what animals / birds migrate ? Origami ? made from the images that you have taken ? Also folded into other shapes such as suitcases ? figures ?
Could this work as an animation or still images for print ? Xray idea (security airport?) , think about the idea of a journey ...the Haj ? pilgrimages ? The Odyssey ?
start drawing ideas in sketchbook & don't worry where they are going !

Shania : continue with the experiments with the heart drawing - consider what other anatomical images you will use in the series ? How will these be drawn / photographed ? Will the images need typography ? Are they postage stamps ? Will there be 3 / 4 - where will the Queens head go ?

Emma: What is the brief ? What ideas from the first 2 artists can you use to develop in terms of style / idea ? Do you need to take a further set of images - plan for these in the studio ? Don't worry too much about the technique - its the idea that needs to be communicated first & we can work out the fine points on tues.

Charys : Begin to evidence the ideas for the pattern (your swiss cheese leaf is over in textiles!) - how many patterns will you have ? What combo of images will you have ...tropical leaves with ...?
Where will the primary sources come from ? Experiment with the compositions of  these / colour ways & scale of images on patterns.

Aleks: Continue with the idea of the tribute & think about primary sources ? Will you have each poster to represent a decade ? What artist will be suitable for each one - what colours represent that decade ? Will the typography also symbolise the era ?

PORTFOLIOS :
Its that time of year when the interviews flood in & you need to get a portfolio together - don't panic. Speak to your tutors first & ask their advice. Take your time - these things need prep& planning so set aside several hours to get this done. Watch the videos on the link below to help - & ASK students who have already been for their advice.
